“In every war zone that I've been in, there has been a reality and then there has been the public perception of why the war was being fought. In every crisis, the issues have been far more complex than the public has been allowed to know.”
~ John le Carre

The year is 2375 and the Dominion War...is over. The Treaty of Bajor is now in effect and the Allies look to their own societies. The Klingons fall back within their own borders and begin to rebuild their fleet and society. The Romulans...we rarely know what they are really doing.

The Federation however faces the daunting task of rebuilding broken worlds and broken lives, rebuilding most of her fleet. Its most important task though is to rebuild its broken self. Gone now are the idealistic explorers, in their place wary, often times jaded veterans and wide eyed graduates the Academy keeps churning out. Time will only tell if these two polar opposites of a once united society can work together, if they can serve under the Federation’s original remit of exploration and self betterment. With a few more weapons than before.

Herein enters the USS Taniwha, an Akira class starship, freshly repaired out of the Okana shipyards on Bajor. As with many others, Starfleet faces a shortage of commanding officers and crew, so individuals are promoted to positions they may not have sought but now must accept, for the greater good.

Such is the case of Commander Xanthe Rahal, formerly the Intelligence Officer assigned to the USS Al-Haytham. Having been forced to take command of the Al-Haytham during the Battle of Cardassia and successfully getting the ship and her survivors through it, Commander Rahal is assigned as the new Commanding Officer of the USS Taniwha, in place of the late Captain Erihel Sand.

The USS Taniwha is set in the year 2375, just as the Treaty of Bajor is signed.

The Commanding Officer is happy to deal with any and all inquiries.

Episode 2: Whispers Of Change

Going back to the place that has brought you grief, loss and nightmares is never easy. USS Taniwha must, however do so. As part of the Task Force: Phoenix, Commander Rahal and her crew travel to Cardassian space, the place that left so many scarred, the place of so many losses.

The Taniwha heads for Cardassian space, carrying supplies and personnel to help in the rebuilding effort of the devastated worlds.

Task Force: Phoenix is a joint Klingon and Federation task force tasked with helping Cardassia make the necessary transitions and to keep the peace in the area until the New Detapa Council could establish a firm foothold and stabilize the Cardassian people and society. Starships that were combat capable would take rotations in the area to help things along and eventually fully run the oversight role, as the Klingons were phasing out their ships and returning to their own territories to re-inforce and repair their own society.

Episode 1: Gathering The Taniwha

Deep Space Nine - once a place few had heard of, orbiting a planet of a former Cardassian Occupied world. Then the Wormhole was discovered and it became a trade hub, orbiting Bajor - a world of great potential and great sorrow.

In 2373 it became the first line of defence against the Dominion, the stalwart guardian beside the mined entrance to the Wormhole. As the Dominion War raged, the station, even under the brief invasion of the Dominion forces, still remained a beacon of resistance, a beacon of good and change, reflecting some of the key qualities of the Federation.

Now, in 2375 the war is finally over and Deep Space Nine now serves again as a place of peace and change, a bustling trade hub. Along with many other crews, the crew assigned to the USS Taniwha, an Akira class vessel undergoing repairs in the nearby shipyards, gathers on Deep Space Nine as they wait for permission to board their new home.

Can Starfleet move forward while keeping the spirit of exploration alive?

Here are the guidelines that each player serving aboard the USS Taniwha is expected to follow.

* The most important rule of all, have fun. This is a game, and we are all here to have fun.

* Each player is expected to produce one (1) post/joint post per week to an average of four (4) posts per month, unless otherwise mandated by the Command staff.

* A post should contain at minimum: a) a solo post: 400 words b) joint post: a minimum of 800 words.

* Personal Logs are encouraged - they should be written in a manner that is presented in the cannon series.
Personal Logs are not posts, but monologues accompanied by background sounds. These do count towards the post requirements if they fill the minimum requirements of a solo post. If they are under that minimal requirement, they count towards character development.

* Character development and use of NPCs to fill in the environment and background story are encouraged - as action oriented as the sim is, it is in the end as it always is, about the characters.

* If in doubt of what to write, please contact the Command Staff, that is what they are there for, to help the players be comfortable and fit into the sim as best they can.

* Developing personal storylines and backgrounds is encouraged.

* All players can submit mission ideas to the Command Staff, and they will do their best to incorporate it into the existing storyline if the submission is accepted. Personal storylines that affect the sim/storyline or other players must be approved by the Command Staff before they are posted.

* Missions are started and ended by Commanding or Executive Officer only.

* In the event there are issues/critiques/similar with a specific player, the matter should be brought to the Commanding/Executive Officer.

Kolar looked around as he stepped into the Ready Room. "So light and focused on comfort. Interesting." He commented, before refocusing on the bajoran Commander.

How far her people had come. Farther than he would have ever imagined.

"Federation standard, for the most part." Korra replied as she moved behind…

Althea watched as Korra headed for the office with one of their guests leaving Will and herself with the remaining two guests. She turned to look at Atora. “Would you like to see the Science stations?” She motioned the Cardassian female in the direction she wanted her to go.

"Definitely!…

"Oh great, now what?" PO2 Thomas grumbled under breath, looking over to Maz and Omri for some sort of direction.

"Look around,…
